Visitation for the Rev. Henry Mitchell, an outspoken West Side
church leader and community activist, will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday
at Greater Gallilee Missionary Baptist Church, 1308 S. Independence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will
be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3100 Shermer Rd., Northbrook.
Rev. Mitchell, 64, died of a heart attack Friday in his West
Side home.
As founder of North Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1414 S.
Hamlin, in 1955, he became well-known for his community work and
outspoken views.
