So? OK, it was a rout, an earthquake, a bloodbath, a tidal wave.
You can measure it any one of a dozen ways.
Not a single Republican incumbent lost a race for senator, Congress
or governor - including a California representative who, a while
back, was found in his car with a prostitute.
The speaker of the House lost his seat - the last time that happened
was in 1860.
Of the nine most populous states, Republicans govern every one save
Florida. (Two years ago, Bill Clinton carried seven of those states.)
The last time the Republicans held the House, speaker-to-be Newt
Gingrich was a Cub Scout and Bill Clinton was a third-grader in Hot
Springs, Ark.
