It was three weeks ago that Tiffanie George, 10, let go of a small green balloon.

She had high hopes for the balloon. So did her classmates at Price Elementary, 4351 S. Drexel.

But even she was surprised when the postcard came back this week.

"I guess our balloon went to Europe," she said.

So it did. It went, specifically, to Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany. This was a record for the school, which likes to send out balloons as a way of meeting people.

"We've heard back from the Eastern U.S. and Canada but never anything like this," said Vice Principal Beverly Slater. "Our next project, of course, is writing back."
