Itinerant singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt delivered one of the
season's most spellbinding club performances under Saturday's full
moon, appropriately enough at the new Lunar Cabaret and Full Moon
Cafe in West Lakeview.
Van Zandt - who spent half his high school years in Northwest
suburban Barrington - just returned to America after touring Europe
to promote "No Deeper Blue," his first studio album in eight years.
As recent as late September, Van Zandt was laid up in a
Nashville hospital suffering from what was thought to be
tuberculosis, but wound up being a severe case of pneumonia.
