Article: Colts' Return Man Brewer Was Forgotten as Bear

The 75-yard punt return for a touchdown Sunday by Dewell Brewer of the Colts was worth playing back a few times. It's difficult to believe that was Brewer, the same player who bounced around with the Bears last season.

Even Colts coach Ted Marchibroda expressed some disbelief, saying, "I hadn't seen that kind of speed from him."

Neither had the Bears. They had signed the undrafted free-agent rookie out of Oklahoma prior to last season. They waived him in August and picked him up for their practice squad for the last month of the season. The Bears didn't try to re-sign him.

The Colts picked up the running back right before camp began. They didn't have a return man with experience ...
