RABAT, Morocco Three-year-old Laila al-Amri gently fondled her white queen then, without hesitation, moved to take black's bishop. She cupped her face in her hands and looked at her opponent.

The game may not go down in chess history, but there's a good chance Laila will. She already masters a game that can baffle adults.

"She opened eyes in a family where chess is a passion. We play every day and she started manipulating the pieces when she was a baby. At age 3 she understood the moves and at 3 1/2 began to play with adults," said her father, Abdelhafid.
