Yes, that is Oprah Winfrey huffing and puffing on a Stairmaster
at 6:30 a.m. at the East Bank Club.
And yet another day of celebrity watching in Chicago begins.
The relationship between famous folks and the Windy City goes
back a long way. In the era before jet planes, movie stars would
regularly stop here en route from coast to coast. Clark Gable, Joan
Crawford or Judy Garland would arrive from New York on trains bearing
glamorous names like the Twentieth Century or the Broadway Limited,
head to the Pump Room in the Ambassador East Hotel for lunch and
share their news with the Chicago Sun-Times' Irv Kupcinet. Then it
