Losing weight can be deadly for the elderly who live in nursing
homes. In a study of 146 nursing-home residents, scientists found
that patients who lost 10 percent or more of their body weight over a
six-month period were significantly more likely to die in the next
six months than those who maintained their weight.
And this applied regardless of age, gender and medical problem.
