Article: Sleep Aids Study Urged

Although over-the-counter sleep aids are being used in increasing numbers, little objective research has been done to determine their long-term effects, according to a Pennsylvania State University research team.

Between 1987 and 1993, sales of these sleep aids increased from an estimated $56 million to $73 million, said Janine L. Pillitteri, a doctoral student in the Biobehavioral Health Program at Penn State in University Park.
