The region's largest real estate law firm has lost its entire real
estate practice to a competitor.
In a defection that shook Wilkes Artis to the core, 12 partners
and five associates, including half of the firm's board of directors,
jumped ship to the D.C. office of Holland & Knight.
The 75-year-old Wilkes Artis, which had 61 lawyers two years ago
and has represented nearly every major commercial development in
modern Washington, will be left with just eight lawyers who make up
the firm's property tax appeal and eminent domain practice.
The lawyers leaving for Holland & Knight include David M. Bond, an
