Orchestra Hall has a weeklong celebration planned to mark the 70th birthday Sunday of Pierre Boulez, the CSO's principal guest conductor in all but title. Special concerts and lectures begin this weekend and continue through April 2.

The festivities kick off at 2 p.m. Sunday with a combination art lecture, slide presentation and concert titled "A Tribute to Pierre Boulez" in the Art Institute of Chicago's Fullerton Hall, Adams and Michigan.

Boulez is avidly interested in both the visual arts and music of the early 20th century and has written a book about the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. Mary Sue Glosser, senior lecturer with the Art Institute's education department, will discuss the ...
