A goose and a plastic cup once shattered the peace at a Westfield Homes housing development, Brian Harris recalls.

Harris, president of Westfield Homes in Gurnee, got a phone call a few years back from a woman in a panic. She was looking out her window into the wetlands behind her Westfield home, she said, and she needed Harris to get over there pronto.

"One of the Canadian geese flew in there, and one of the construction workers had thrown a 7-Eleven cup, and the goose proceeded to put his little webbed foot in the cup," Harris said. "And he was walking around trying to shake it off.

"She wanted me to come over and get his foot out," he said.
