Mandel L. Aronfeld, 81, a retired lawyer for the state of Illinois, died Wednesday in Rush North Shore Hospital, Skokie.

The Morton Grove resident was with the attorney general's office from 1969 until 1982. For the last several years, he headed its unemployment fraud division.

Instead of retiring, Mr. Aronfeld worked part time prosecuting drunken drivers for the secretary of state until last fall.
