If there was any question, Roy Jones proved he was for real when he defended his International Boxing Federation super-middleweight title with an impressive sixth-round stoppage Saturday of Vinny Pazienza in Atlantic City, N.J.

"If you're going to beat Roy Jones, you've got to be on," Pazienza said. "I had the tools to beat him. I just wasn't on."

Jones was, and he appeared to get stronger, faster and more effective in every round.

It was Pazienza's first defeat since coming back from a 1991 automobile accident in which his neck was broken.
