Q. I have a 7-month-old Irish setter who has had diarrhea off and
on for the last two months. She has been losing weight and looks
awful. I've had her to the doctor several times and every test came
out normal. I feed her the same good commercial prepared food
without scraps or treats. Do you have any ideas?
A. There has been a study on a problem of some Irish setters
with the same symptoms your dog is showing. It is a sensitivity to
wheat that causes changes in the lining of the small intestine. A
biopsy can be done, but that is a major job. The easiest way to
pinpoint a diagnosis is to eliminate wheat from her diet. If she
