Article: Chicago's Devotion to Monet Based on Century-old Links

It is no accident that the Art Institute of Chicago has the world's third largest collection of works by French impressionist Claude Monet - 33 paintings and 11 works on paper.

This town's links to Monet began more than a century ago when its wealthy entrepreneurs became enamored of impressionism - the art movement that captured moods and scenes with short brush strokes, light and pure color.
