U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds withstood four hours of careful, sometimes testy cross-examination Tuesday, maintaining that a 17-year-old high school dropout lured the Rhodes scholar into phone sex.

Reynolds, who spent Monday testifying about how he rubbed shoulders with presidents and nobility, said Beverly Heard was behind his troubles during cross-examination that sought to separate fantasy phone calls from the reality of being charged with sexually assaulting a minor.

Reynolds took no major hits during the cross-examination conducted by Assistant State's Attorney Colleen Hyland. He returns to the stand today.
