Article: Timpson Not Disappointed--Yet // Receiver Will Kick off Season as Return Man

When the Bears signed receiver Michael Timpson to a three-year $4.5 million contract to make him their top free agent acquisition of the off-season, they did so with the idea of making him the featured receiver, not a return specialist.

After all, Timpson caught 74 passes for 941 yards with the New England Patriots last season and boasts world-class speed as is evident by his participation in the 200-meter dash during the 1988 Olympic Trials.

"The purpose of bringing me in was to add some life to the passing game," said Timpson, who'll return kicks against the Minnesota Vikings in Sunday's regular-season opener at Soldier Field.
