Article: Brighton Park Man Quizzed About Slaying of Paperboy

Detectives were questioning a Brighton Park man today in connection with the slaying of 14-year-old newspaper boy Joel Trinidad, police and the youth's parents said.

Joel, of the 4000 block of South Kedzie, was collecting money owed by customers of his Southwest Side Chicago Sun-Times paper route Saturday afternoon at about 3 p.m.

Joel was last seen alive near 38th Street and California. His body was found about a mile away.

The boy's mother, Julia Trinidad, said police told her they were questioning a 25-year-old man.

Minerva Bruno, a niece of the youth's father, Jose Trinidad, said detectives told the family the suspect was a man Joel knew from his route.
