Article: Harry Katz, Philanthropist, Meat-Packing Executive

Harry Katz, 71, a noted philanthropist who headed a leading Chicago meat-packing company, died Monday in his Near North Side residence.

Mr. Katz was president and CEO of Stock Yards Packing Co. Inc., 340 N. Oakley, for many years. He had been with the company, founded in 1893 by family members, for half a century.

Stock Yards Packing is a purveyor of meat products to hotels, restaurants and private clubs. It also prepares meat gift packages.
