Flying Fish, one of the most notable of Chicago's several
independent record labels, covers it all. Hook, line and sinker, it
has consistently presented music for all folks.
Its catalog of more than 500 titles spans the globe - gospel,
bluegrass, blues, Celtic, Cajun and klezmer music. Flying Fish also
manufacturers and distributes specialty labels such as Temple, a line
of Celtic recordings, and Earwig Records, a blues label. Without a
doubt, Flying Fish celebrates the literal definition of folk music.
Completing a circle that began a quarter-century ago, Flying
Fish is being sold to a larger independent label, Rounder Records of
