The Mike Huber finishing school welcomed a pair of newcomers
Friday.
Without all-state forward Huber scoring a goal, defending state
champion Palatine overcame a 1-0 deficit with two second-half goals
for a 2-1 victory over Edwardsville in the state soccer
quarterfinals at Fremd in Palatine.
The No. 4 Pirates (20-5-2) advanced to the semifinals to play
St. Charles, which won an early-season meeting 2-1.
"You don't know who is going to step up," Palatine coach Willie
Filian said. "We had a couple of excellent finishes from some other
players today."
