If some businessman insisted on having a legal blessing for a
medical procedure that could harm women, or endanger their ability to
have children, you know what would happen. And rightly so.
Feminist and women's health groups would loudly protest. The
media would be running exposes, talking to experts about the
procedure's dangers and scouring the country for victims. Lawmakers
would be pressured to ban it.
In fact, none of that is happening, even though such a procedure
does exist and is used on hundreds of women - without them being
fully informed about its harmful consequences. Even more incredibly,
