Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Franklin D. Roosevelt
are rated as the three greatest presidents of the United States in a
Chicago Sun-Times survey of 58 presidential scholars.
"Lincoln, FDR, and Washington stand above the crowd," said
Thomas E. Cronin, the president of Whitman College and a former White
House Fellow.
"They set the standard against which we judge all the others."
Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower are the most successful
presidents of the half century, according to the national survey of
political scholars and historians.
"Truman and Ike both came from the heart of America. ...
