Article: Bosnia Peace Is Official // Leaders Ratify Treaty in Paris

PARIS The leaders of the former Yugoslavia signed a peace treaty Thursday that formally ended 3 1/2 years of war in Bosnia, setting in motion the deployment of up to 60,000 NATO troops and a huge reconstruction effort after Europe's most violent conflict in 50 years.

In a ceremony at the Elysee Palace, the presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia promised to stop the ethnic bloodshed that caused the violent destruction of Yugoslavia and to work toward the reconciliation of their peoples.
