Now that may seem an unnecessarily obscure way to begin a list of the best theater productions of 1995. But anyone who saw TurnAround Theatre's sublime production of Brian Friel's "Faith Healer" will know exactly what I mean.

The show, which became a sellout at its original home in a tiny storefront last winter, and then returned for a second go-round in Steppenwolf's Studio, was the best production of the year.
