Can a small but ambitious storefront theater burst into
Chicago's theatrical big-time with a budget of about $240,000, a
handful of stars and a repertoire devoted entirely to the works of
Samuel Beckett?
That's what the Splinter Group Theatre Company is well on its
way to attempting. John Mahoney, of "Frasier" fame, has signed on,
and the company is negotiating with John Larroquette, best known for
his TV work but an ardent Beckett fan. Tune in later this spring to
see if they carry it off.
Led by Marc Rosenbush and Matt O'Brien, the Splinter Group has
staged an annual Buckets O'Beckett Festival for several years.
