Article: 2nd Alderman Likely to Quit // 17th Ward's Streeter Seeks Deal From Feds

Ald. Allan K. Streeter (17th), who has been on the City Council since 1982, will be the next alderman snared in the Operation Silver Shovel investigation.

City Hall sources say Streeter is negotiating with the Justice Department, which has been probing governmental corruption. "He (Streeter) is in the process of cutting a deal with the feds right now," one source said. "He plans to resign soon and even has a successor in mind. We've been told he will be indicted within the next few weeks."

Another source quoted Streeter as telling friends he would be "gone in three weeks."
