Article: Crayons Lose Charm In a Puff of Smoke

Rare is the day when I wish this column had a scratch 'n' sniff box, but today is one of those days.

If we did have that capability, I'd ask you to press your face against the newspaper right now and inhale - kind of like Dennis Hopper did in "Blue Velvet."

Instead of smelling like a newspaper, the newspaper would smell like smoke, and you'd be so turned off you'd probably get mad at me and flip the paper all the way to Funky Winkerbean.

And then you'd have had a virtual reality experience not unlike the one I just had when I tried out the new Magic Scent crayons from Crayola.

They 've actually got a crayon that imitates the scent of smoke; what a stupid idea.
