Liz Taylor and Richard Burton fell in love with it. Hollywood
put it on the cultural map. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is a ravishing,
romantic hot spot made famous by the film "Night of the Iguana."
The movie was shot at nearby Mismaloya, where the set still
stands. But Puerto Vallarta's claim to fame is thanks to a grand
passion. Liz Taylor - although married to Eddie Fisher - had fallen
in love with Richard Burton. Anxious for a scoop, reporters hounded
the couple during filming. Soon, Puerto Vallarta began appearing as
international datelines.
Today, Puerto Vallarta retains the same charms that drew the
film's director, John Huston, to this once idyllic fishing village.
