WASHINGTON Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America created a
"reign of terror" against employees after sexual harassment lawsuits
were filed against the Illinois automaker, seven congresswomen said
Wednesday.
They said the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission should
seek a court order to prevent the downstate Normal plant from
retaliating against workers.
Tsuneo Ohinouye, chairman of the plant, said in a prepared
statement that the company maintains "a working environment wherein
every employee is treated with dignity and mutual respect."
Ohinouye said 89 incidents of sexual harassment were reported
since 1987 and resulted in the firing of 10 workers and the demotions
