Reds 7 Cubs 4 CINCINNATI Strangers to their own division for most of the season, the Cubs began a vital block of 21 consecutive games against National League Central teams on Friday.

The Cincinnati Reds - the defending champs who floundered early but are charging with a six-game winning streak - upended the Cubs 7-4 at Riverfront Stadium. In the process, the Reds (35-38) passed the Cubs (37-41) in the standings.

Though the Cubs are three games from the halfway point of the season, Friday's game was just their 13th within the NL Central. They are 6-7 in the division.
