Pulitzer Prize-winning author Larry McMurtry is moving smoothly and
swiftly from books to film by adapting his newer novels for
television.
His latest accomplishment as TV writer and executive producer is
"Dead Man's Walk," the strongest miniseries of the 1995-96 season.
Based on McMurtry's 1995 Lonesome Dove prequel, ABC's five-hour
frontier saga will air at 8 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday on Channel
7.
"Dead Man's Walk" rises above May's sweeps programming because
it faithfully re-creates McMurtry's enthralling story, using the
words, images and ideas created by the masterful novelist.
