When does the biological become spiritual?
Usually, at one extreme or the other - birth or death. But in
honor of Mother's Day let's concentrate on the positive event.
For that, we went to Tikva Frymer-Kensky, professor of Hebrew
Bible at the University of Chicago Divinity School.
When Frymer-Kensky was pregnant with her daughter, she
discovered there were barely any prayers, meditations or mentions of
this important biological event in most of the religious texts she
had studied.
And after that birth, she was angry that no one had put into
words what women were experiencing.
