Article: Foyt Sounds Off on Rival CART's Allies

INDIANAPOLIS After his third and last driver was safely in the field for the May 26 Indianapolis 500, A.J. Foyt met with the press for the first time this month.

And it took only one question to set him off about the war between CART and the Foyt-supported Indy Racing League. Foyt was asked about comments from drivers Michael Andretti, Bobby Rahal and Al Unser Jr. and car owner Roger Penske from the Michigan International Speedway, site of the U.S. 500.

And this was his answer:

"It does not surprise me because not one of them guys would be there if they weren't under contracts to their owners. . . . It's a terrible thing. They're the ones who are suffering.
