In today's youth-obsessed, beauty-worship culture, few things can
crush a person's self-esteem as thoroughly as hair loss.
Despite the social stigma that surrounds it, thinning hair is a
common problem. According to one U.S. government estimate, at any
given time more than 40 million men and 20 million women are
experiencing some degree of hair loss.
Still, it's no surprise that all those shiny scalps - and shaky
egos - have spawned a vast industry of products and services
promising to restore lost locks. Some are legitimate, others are
worthless, and all are expensive. But balding men and women today
have more hope and options for restoring their hair than ever before.
