Mike Mayden has been ousted as acting varsity baseball coach at
Corliss.
The reason for his dismissal?
Principal Edith Sims-Davis says she never hired him as coach.
Mayden says the decision was related to his participation in the
politics of the local school council at Chicago Vocational last week.
He backed a slate of candidates in opposition to one headed by CVS
principal Betty Green, a friend of Sims-Davis.
"I don't even know him," Sims-Davis said Tuesday. "He is not
the baseball coach. The baseball coach is Bob Simon. Somehow Mr.
Simon was getting the check. When I found out, I was going to take
action. (Mayden) didn't get hired by me. I don't know him.
