Article: Amazon to Operate Borders Web Site

Amazon.com Inc. will take over the Web site of one of the country's biggest booksellers, Borders Group Inc., the companies announced yesterday.

"This allows us to do what we do best and transfers management of our online site to those who do it better than anyone," Borders President Greg Josefowicz said at a joint news conference yesterday morning in New York.

Borders will now concentrate on its network of 350 stores.

Under the terms of the deal, which somewhat resembles an Amazon partnership with Toys R Us that began last fall, Amazon will add its name to the Borders site, run it and handle all orders. The site will continue to feature Borders content, such as information about store ...
