An English setter nicknamed Kid became the first of his breed in
38 years to win best-in-show honors at the 56th International Kennel
Club of Chicago spring dog show Sunday at McCormick Place East.
Champion Set' Ridge Lookin at You Kid, owned by P.J. and John
Dekker and Melissa Johnson of Monterey, Calif., was selected the best
during a daylong competition involving 2,206 dogs and 142 breeds.
The show is the biggest of the three-day International Cluster of Dog
Shows and concludes it.
A crowd estimated at 25,000 by spokeswoman Sheri Johnson
attended the rites of spring first conducted in 1938.
Kid, who turned 4 on March 14, earned his eighth top-dog award
under handler Taffe McFadden ...
