Mayor Daley will travel to Morocco on an Easter weekend trip
aimed at promoting cultural, educational and business exchanges with
Chicago's sister city of Casablanca, mayoral aides said Monday.
Unlike last year's Memorial Day junket to Birmingham, England,
which included key aldermen and department heads, Daley's official
entourage this time is limited to his wife, Maggie; his daughter,
Elizabeth, and his press secretary, Jim Williams.
"The purpose is to market Chicago," Daley said. Morocco has a
"huge seaport" and vast opportunities for trade, he said.
An avid horseman, the mayor hinted he may sneak in a little
riding. "They have wonderful horses in Morocco," he said.
