At the Republican National Convention in San Diego, Richard
Morris was referred to with grudging admiration as "President Morris"
and as Bill Clinton's "Svengali."
Morris, a media consultant who has worked for Democrats and
Republicans, is credited by Clinton's allies and opponents with
saving Clinton's presidency. He is on the cover of the Sept. 2
edition of Time magazine as "The Man Who Has Clinton's Ear."
Morris had predicted during the 1992 presidential campaign that
Clinton's personal indiscretions would prevent him from winning the
White House. Republican consultant Alex Castellanos said Morris told
him: "Bill Clinton is a fatally flawed candidate who's running around
the track ...
