Article: Few women make cut for GOP convention

Bob Dole has a gender gap in Illinois.

Of the 69 Illinois delegates to the Republican National Convention in San Diego, more than two-thirds are men. There are 20 women in the Illinois delegation, including three among the 10 at-large delegates.

Under the Democratic Party's rules, half of the delegates to the national convention are women. The Republican National Committee has a male and female member from each state. But the GOP doesn't require gender balance in the selection of delegates to the convention.
