Ralph E. Eckerstrom, 74, a leading figure in the Chicago graphic
design industry, died Sept. 15 at his La Grange home after a long
illness.
During his long career he directed major design, communications
and marketing programs for more than 300 companies worldwide. From
1979-1989 he served as president of the Mobium design division of
R.R. Donnelley and Sons.
After receiving his bachelor of fine arts degree from the
University of Illinois in 1943, he went into the Army and served in
European Theater operations during World War II, attaining the rank
of captain.
