Ralph E. Eckerstrom, 74, a leading figure in the Chicago graphic design industry, died Sept. 15 at his La Grange home after a long illness.

During his long career he directed major design, communications and marketing programs for more than 300 companies worldwide. From 1979-1989 he served as president of the Mobium design division of R.R. Donnelley and Sons.
