It's the 84th consecutive year for "The Game" between New Trier
and Evanston, and it's the last at New Trier's Phelps Field.
Sometime between November and March, the historic field in
Winnetka will be torn down to make way for a track. Beginning in
1997, all football and soccer games will be played at the west campus
in Northfield.
Saturday will be the 85th game of the series, which includes a
state playoff game in 1982. The series started in 1913 when Evanston
and future Bears coach John "Paddy" Driscoll prevailed 31-13.
The series also featured Clint Frank (Evanston Class of 1932),
who won the third Heisman Trophy while playing at Yale, and Wildkits
stars Alex Agase, Robert Pickens, ...
