Article: Olympic sights, sounds overpower problems

In one instant, it all changed.

Atlanta, where the world came to celebrate great athletes and sports, became a victim of terrorism. Instead of remembering the Centennial Olympics for Michael Johnson, Dan O'Brien, the U.S. women's gymnastics team or Muhammad Ali lighting the torch, many will think of the bomb.

Not so for my 16-year-old nephew Josh and me. We spent five days in Atlanta during the first week of the Games - just missing the explosion by a few hours. Josh and I are lucky: Our memories are not clouded by the harsh realities of the real world. We will remember great athletic performances, scalping tickets and the huge street festival we were part of.
