The Rev. Andy Gonzalez of Villa Park, who was full-time chaplain
at Cook County Jail for the past 19 years, died Wednesday in Elmhurst
Memorial Hospital of liver failure.
The Rev. Gonzalez, 45, was born and reared in California.
He was involved in Los Angeles gangs until he became a Christian
when he was 22.
From that point on, he spent his time going into prisons and
jails, preaching to inmates.
The Rev. Gonzalez was a graduate of Emmaeus Bible College in Oak
