Kendall Gill came home early for Christmas - and not just in his dreams.

A Chicago native and former Illinois star, Gill arrived Sunday night, stayed in his new five-bedroom house in south suburban Flossmoor, played the Bulls on Monday night and will stay in town through Christmas because his team, the New Jersey Nets, doesn't play again until Thursday.

This is Gill's seventh season in the NBA, and a brief stay at home is not the only reason he will have a merry Christmas. Two other factors figure prominently.
