If Ohio State and Northwestern share the Big Ten championship
again, the Buckeyes would take the Purple's place in Pasadena. But
the Wildcats wouldn't necessarily be bound for the Citrus Bowl, which
takes the conference's second-place team.
The Fiesta Bowl, which sent a representative to the
Michigan-Northwestern game, is showing increasing interest in the Big
Ten.
Some people have been puzzled to see Fiesta Bowl officials at Big
Ten games recently. The Midwesterners apparently don't realize the
Fiesta could take a Big Ten team because the Alliance has two truly
at-large spots to fill among the six teams that will play in the
Sugar, Orange and Fiesta bowls.
