Honda's popular Accord and Mazda's overlooked Protege are in a
holding pattern for 1997 because they get redesigned for 1998.
But the Accord and Protege are solidly engineered, and their
producers are seeking to make them attractive to buyers in the 1997
model year by offering restyling of the Protege and small
improvements for the Accord - along with a money-saving Accord model.
Here is what I found while recently testing both cars:
Accord: Honda's tightly constructed Accord holds the No. 2 auto
sales slot in the United States and continues to dog the top-selling
Ford Taurus. The $17,990-$25,100 Accord was the top seller from 1989
to 1991, and has finished No. 2 behind the Taurus ...
