Article: Lyric Opera lineup is cause for celebration

A 43rd performance season isn't exactly the kind of number to set
off images of celebratory productions.
But Lyric Opera of Chicago's 43rd season, opening Sept. 20 and
running through March 8, looks more impressive than usual, even by
Lyric's traditionally high standards.
With 80 performances of eight operas scheduled, Lyric is
bringing back four works that it has rarely performed: Verdi's
"Nabucco," Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes," Mozart's "Idomeneo"
and Bizet's "The Pearl Fishers." The season also offers three
perennial crowd pleasers: Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and
Puccini's "La Boheme" and "Madama Butterfly."
